It is the end of the first trimester of the school year, and there is always an awards assembly. Since I was on a field trip, I missed Dylan's but I was able to attend Samantha's. Dylan wasn't too happy with me, and I felt so bad that I missed his. Dylan recieved an award for Good Citizenship and Good grades. Samantha recieved an award for good Citizenship, Passing her mad minutes before the deadline, and having all "St's" or "O's..which is like straight A's. I am very proud fo both of them and know that they will have a successful rest of their year....They are the best kids!!

Riley Farms and Sam
I had the absolute pleasure to go on a school field trip with my fun daughter Samantha. The first grade classes went to Riley Farms. I had a group of three that included Samantha. They were good kids and we went around the farm to learn about colonial life and how a farm worked then. And of course I went and ordered a fabulous pie and chicken pot pie! Yum! Yum! These pictures were uploaded backwards, sorry about that. We had a blast and hope to go again.
Samantha and Bailey fell asleep on the bus on the way home.

I love this picture of Samantha..she is so pretty....

The Riley Farms house that is now a restaurant and bakery....it smells like fresh baked bread all the time!

Trying to be creative...

Samantha with a fan demonstrating how to properly decline a dance at a ball...

Samantha escort...her make believe big brother...tkaing her to the ball....

Writing with quills and ink...it was fun

Churning butter...but we didn't get to try it. We also made cider..again we didn;t get to try it ):..but they did give us carmel apples..yummy!!

Playing hoop and stick...by the end of the 10 minute rotation they had picked it up..

Weaving a scraf perhaps....it was kind of tricky for the first graders to weave, but they liked trying anyway...

Samantha and I...I think it turned out pretty good....

My group...Bailey, Makein, and Samantha

Bailey and Samantha on the bus...let me tell you, I was not excited about riding a bus full of first graders up the mountain to Oak Glen...but at least we weren't going up to Big Bear!

TWILIGHT soundtrack release party....
My sister Vanessa and I went to the TWILIGHT soundtrack release party. It was at HOT TOPIC. It as a blast! They had a costume contest..come dressed up as Twilight characters and door prizes. If you answered questions correctly then you got a $5 gift card for merchandise. Vanessa made me dress up because it would be more fun..and she was right. Well, I kind of went as VICTORIA..but it didn't come off as well...so I then just decided I was a vampire. She went as ROSALIE...and man she looked just like her! Vanessa won the costume contest and got a pair of fabulous vampire teeth. We had alot of fun together. And of course we got our CD preordered!

Halloween...
...is always a fun time! This year was kind of weird..we had so much going on...we went to our ward Halloween party and got most of our trick or treating done then. Dylan was the guy from Scream, Samantha was Strawberry Shortcake, and Wesley was SHAMU..are we surprised? Not hardly! haha....and to find a Shamu costume, well not even Sea World had a costume, so it was up to my brain to figure that out..I think it turned out pretty good. And then the night of Halloween we made our families traditional homemade donuts. I made the dough, my Grandma Rotz cut them out and then my Mom fried them. This is the way to go..do one part and then someone else helps to the other parts...making donuts is something that I grew up with, with my Grandma Rotz, then my Mom, and now I do it for my kids. And they are yummy! After that we went trick or treating and we knocked on one street of homes, then the kids were done. Dylan was sick and stayed home and Samantha and Wesley were not that into it...not sure why. But it was fine by me! The next day was my cousin Doug Grover's wedding. He married the wonderful and beautiful Marla Gibson. We were so excited for them and spent the day doing that. Dave was the wonderful DJ for the reception. He did a great job for them! It was a busy weekend, but so glad to be with family and for my kids to spend time with their Great Grandma and Grandpa Rotz.

Sadness...

I knew that people would be upset about Prop 8 passing, but I never expected this...It breaks my heart to see people in front of a temple and protesting. It saddens me to see people climb the gated fence with bullhorns to tell the world that Mormons are bigots and should go to hell. I saw the picture of the temple with the SWAT team on the grounds protecting it and I thought that we may not be so far off from having them protect the grounds at all times. The last picture is how I want to remember the LA temple...peaceful, beautiful, clean...I hope that the protesters are learning what tolerance truly is and I hope that they will find a more peaceful way to protest.
