Sometimes Dr. Laura gets it right...

I am a partial fan of Dr. Laura...by that I mean one day I listen and the next I can't stand to listen to the program...but today I was listening. This is what I heard...

"I just turned 62. In my life, I have seen blacks go from the back of the bus to the White House. I have seen women gain respect in the workplace.

But I have also seen an explosion in divorces. Abortions. Out-of-wedlock kids…on purpose.

I have seen a collapse of the values that made and can still make America great. I have seen an abdication of personal responsibility in favor of the adoption of victimhood and situational ethics.

There are many things that concern me about our new president. Many policies that frankly, make me nervous. But there are some things that I am impressed by, and hope he will set a tone and become a role model for our society.

I am impressed by President Obama’s work ethic. I am impressed by his clear love for his wife and family.

I am impressed that during the campaign, Michelle Obama made sure she was home with her daughters 5 days a week.

I am impressed that they have invited the children’s grandmother to live with them in the White House.

I am impressed that the first black president got there through his own hard work and not because of affirmative action programs.

I am impressed that President Obama took the time to visit with some of our wounded warriors from Iraq and Afghanistan the day before he took office as Commander-in-Chief.

Now, I hope that through these actions, our new president will serve as a role model for all Americans - to take their vows and responsibilities as seriously as the day they made them.

And that’s my take on today."

I couldn't agree more! I loved how she found all the positive things in this Man's life. So now...lets see what this President will do

History

Harry S. Truman met his successor, Dwight Eisenhower, at the exit of the U.S. Capitol minutes before the president-elect strolled to the stage to take the oath of office. Truman whispered, “There are thousands of folks out here, millions listening on the radio, and yet you’ll never feel more alone and surrounded with quiet as when you walk out here and get the lay of the land.”

I wonder if that is what it is really like. I do not envy the new President and what he is up against. What a job! I preferred a different man for the job, but in the end the people spoke and picked their man. It will be neat to remember this moment in time and to remember what a historic event this really and truely is. I pray for President Obama and his family like I did with the other Presidents of this great nation. I also thought many times today aobut Martin Luther king and what he would have to say about what will be taking place tomorrow...did he think it would ever happen? For that I think it is amazing and a gret time to be alive to see this moment. I was pleased athat Obama said that Martin Luther king day should be a day of giving service to each other...that sparked some interest...what a great thing to do on a day like today. Could you imagine if everyone gave service to each other and then chose to "pay it forward". Wow! that would be a country to live and die for!

I was pleased with President Bush today as he granted Commutes to the two border patrol agents..that was a great way to leave office...too bad he didn't have a certain "someone" in captivity..That would've been awesome!

As i go to bed tonight i pray for the country, my family, and for leadership in a man who will lead this great nation...I guess time will tell...

Sometimes there are no words...

..and you just end up laughing and can't stop! Dylan, Wesley, and I were out running errands one day. Of course Wesley fell asleep...I opened the door to get him out and this is what I saw...


...of course he was put in with his shirt on, the right way I might add! Later he said he was hot..of course! What a simple solution, take your shirt off...or try to! I mean there is no way that Mom could've turned the air conditioner on! We got a good laugh from this one! Thanks Wesley!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I was so glad to say goodbye to 2008!!! This has been a year...a year of lots of good things, don't get me wrong...but a year that started and ended hard. I went back through my blog to see all the things that filled our year...it was nice to reflect. I am ready to start 2009 fresh and energized!
Our New Year's Eve day and night did not go as we had planned. We found out the day before that we were going to DJ the Moreno Valley stake youth dance..what the?? haha (: So I told Dave that we would both go and do it together...got to be with my love
and get my New Years kiss!!
The youth of the Moreno Valley stake had a hard morning and said goodbye to a dear friend Gabe Deyo. He passed away on December 23rd, 2008 and his funeral was on New Years Eve. We knew that the youth would be in wierd sorts. It made for a strange day for them...and for us too. The Priests in his ward were his pallbearers and the YM and YW sang at his funeral. Gabe was a sweet and good kid...and he will be dearly missed. I have a few memories of him that I will now hold dear to my heart. We continue to pray for his parents and family.
I am always impressed by the youth of the church and so grateful that I have had many opportunites to be around them and learn from them. We figured that they would not be in the mood to party like its 1999...but we were wrong. They took the week and the morning to reflect and say goodbye to their dear friend. And then when it came time to come to the dance and to be with each other and other kids form various stakes, they celebrated the year and looked onto 2009. I think that this is how Gabe would've wanted it...to have fun...to LIVE.
The dance was fun...the kids were great...it was a great conclusion to 2008. And I got to be with my love...Dave makes it easier to live and to be...we are enjoying our journey...and hope the best is yet to come...
