First Day of School

Samantha was excited....Dylan wanted to still be sleeping, though school starts at 8:45 am. And I was THRILLED that school was starting! THRILLED!

The sight I came upon on when we were going to take pictures.
The bag...
The way cute outfit!
She is liking girly things more and more and is finally letting me curl her hair and put things in it! For so long she wanted to be like Dylan...they were dark days...

The shoes...
He is way too cool for school...
...and he loved his shirt...I think he was sending a message to his teacher today!
The shoes....he is in the mode of not wanting laces..LAME! But got to get him stuff he will wear...
The Grogan kids, first day of school 2009.
He wanted me to get him dressed today too! He kept saying My turn, my turn!! Luckily, I know my son and I had a new outfit waiting for him too. Isn't he a doll?!!

Ms. Hansen...Sammie loves her!

Ms. Guillen...she is way cool and rides a Harley...the boys love her! I had to sneak this pic in..Dylan told me no pics and not to embarrass him.
The walk home...it was a sad one...Wesley held his head down the whole time like this...
...until I told him we were going to play group...and then he picked me out a flower...
...and then fixed it after he broke it!

The new school

We were able to go and "meet the teacher" on Tuesday of this week. I like the kids teachers and think they are a good match for them. Which is great since no one knows us! I was amazed...and so will you by this school and what is given for the "free education" here.

1. Dylan noticed that the bathrooms were clean and looked like a safer place to pee. They have  the cool sensors that turn the water on for you.

2. The cafeteria is the only place where they eat...no more eating outside.

3. The whole school is indoors...only one way to get in during school hours.

4. There is a computer lab....seriously a whole room filled. And each classroom has 2 or 3 computers.
5. Music. There is a music room...the kids go 2 times a week to music class. And then the kids can participate in the orchestra if they want to.

6. The GYM. This is what got me. This gym looks a high school gym. Unbelievable.
I am so impressed with this school...and they tell me that all the schools are like this one. This is newer, but they all have the same accommodations. Everyone thinks I am crazy because I am in such awe of what is at our fingertips here. We are lucky in be in Boise, Idaho.

Dylan is 10! Yikes!

We all have those moments when we feel our age...we feel old...we wonder where the years have gone...how did I get here?!...well this past Monday I had one such day. Dylan turned 10!! Where did the years go? It feels like yesterday he was born and that we would go visit him in the NICU...then finally 4 months later we were able to bring him home. I am so grateful for my time with him and for the special way he entered into our family. We learned so much from that time, and I appreciate his life so much more because of it.

We had a great day...he was able to choose...within reason...what he got to do that day. He chose to go to McDonald's and to see the movie Shorts. We had a great dinner and opened presents. I think he had a great 10th birthday!! I told Dylan he could have any kind of cake...which meant a cake shaped into a skateboard, skate ramp, legos, whatever he wanted. He thought it over and he asked for cake in ice cream cones. So it jazz it up a bit, I took out the top part of the cake, put ice cream in, put the top back on and then added whipped cream and sprinkles. He was very pleased and they were yummy!

Doesn't he look so grown up?! How did this happen?!!
BTW...he is in the fifth grade now!

The last movie in the park...

I am so sad to see the movie in the park end. I loved going on Friday evenings with my family. It made for a great evening for us. The last movie was the Sound of Music. I love that movie! Dave and Dylan opted out of this movie and stayed home to have a guys movie night...they watched Indiana Jones. I took Sammie and Wesley...those of you who know me know that I DID NOT want to take my sweet Wesley. lol (: When we got to the park though, I was so glad that we did!! There was a local church sponsoring the movie in the park, sand they brought more fun with them! they had face painting, bounce houses, bounce slides, magic tricks, and more! We had a blast and then ended the evening watching the Sound of Music. Samantha found a new movie she loves and Wes for the most part liked it...when they sang and danced.

Beautiful Samantha
He was very serious after he got his face painted.
I caught the SpideyWes dancing.

Wesley forgot about the makeup and rubbed his face...he was sad to take it off that night.
